Are you looking for a "second act" in your career? Or are you wondering what's next after being the stay-at-home parent or spouse? Many of our members help people like you discover their calling and help them to land encore opportunities in the Greater Boston area.
If you need able, skilled, experienced people for work opportunities with positive social impact, many of our members can help you find qualified candidates. If you're a nonprofit, we can also help you assess your needs.
Wanted: Thinkers, Doers, and Funders. Many of our members are interested in the encore movement from the standpoint of academic study, journalism, government policy, social philanthrophy, and other interests. If you belong to any of these categories, we want your viewpoint too.
Simply put, we have four strategic goals:
ALIGN and STRENGTHEN our members,
EDUCATE the community about the encore movement and PROMOTE our members and initiatives,
BALANCE the SUPPLY of and DEMAND for encore talent, and
BUILD our BACKBONE staff and organization.
ALIGN & STRENGTHEN: We conduct structured networking and communications to advertise member resources, needs, and opportunities. Additionally, we provide professional development for members through workshops, panel discussions, and keynote speakers.
EDUCATE & PROMOTE: We participate in and lead public awareness campaigns on the encore movement and its vast potential to strengthen Greater Boston communities. Furthermore, we market and publicize our members and initiatives at local, regional, and national levels.
BALANCE SUPPLY & DEMAND: We participate in and lead events that provide collective encore recruiting and employer engagement opportunities such as conferences and exhibitions.
BUILD BACKBONE: We are building a backbone organization with a board, director, and communications and marketing manager and fundraising to enable our other goals.
What We Do
As a coalition of organizations and professionals, we:
Connect the talents and expertise of mature people with organizations tackling society’s problems.
Collaborate with each other to increase our collective impact.
Challenge and help eliminate ageism in the workplace and our communities.
We create change by combining our strengths and working toward a common agenda that none of us alone could achieve. We add leverage to individual and organizational efforts that amplify and accelerate the changes we seek. Together we speak with a louder voice and achieve greater impact in our communities.
